ABout s. rochelle artisan FOODS and our founder

First, the boring stuff: I have a BS in Business Information Systems Management from Stevenson University, and a MS in Software Management and a mini MBA both from the University of St. Thomas.

Along the way, however, I pursued my passion for being in the kitchen and followed my heart. I completed a Chef's Apprenticeship at the Citronelle at the Latham Hotel (owned by Master Chef Michel Richard) in my hometown of Baltimore, MD.  I’ve also owned a personal chef service and catering company, in addition to selling made-from-scratch desserts to private customers and to a Polish store in Baltimore.  I’ve been a sous chef and a line cook.

I was the official caterer for a major corporation located in Minneapolis, produced cakes for a prominent country singer, and worked as the personal chef for a sheikh.

So, how did my love of all things culinary begin?  With my parents, of course.  I was fortunate to have had a dad who cooked most everything from scratch, and he was the designated grill master at every event which featured an open flame.   After my dad passed, my mother and I carried on.

We were both experimenters in the kitchen.  One of our favorite snacks was freshly popped popcorn.  We kicked it old school on the stovetop using kernels and oil.  Where we got creative was with the seasonings.  Old Bay popcorn? Yes.  Poultry seasoning popcorn?  We tried it.  Once.  Chipotle pepper popcorn? Yes. She liked big, bold flavors.

A few years ago, I took a friend out for his first ever Indian meal.  His eyes lit up and he broke out in a wide smile at first bite.  He had never experienced such spice flavors and fragrances.  It was such a joy to watch him eat, and it reminded me of the spicy, bold meals I grew up with.

Every meal should be that delighful.
